“SUMMER CAMP TEACHING DIVERSITY – DIVERSITY IN TEACHING: A COLLABORATION OF STATE UNIVERITY OF YOGYAKARTA DAN UNIVERSITY OF MUENSTER’

The State University of Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the University of Muenster from Germany, funded by the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD), has the same vision and mission to introduce children's literature to all circles with the theme of "diversity." Thus, an ongoing program called "Teaching Diversity – Diversity in Teaching" was held. The summer camp aims to invite and campaign how important it is to embrace, teach, and understand diversity. That is why the summer camp theme is "Teaching Diversity – Diversity in Teaching." The summer camp also aims to form good teamwork between participants in innovating and conveying their thoughts in various discussion forms to achieve new thoughts and ideas. This program has two types of activities: intensive camps held in Segajih, Kulon Progo. This intensive camp activity requires participants to be involved in discussion and activities that are directly guided by lectures from the State University of Yogyakarta, namely Dr. Widyastuti Purbani, M.A. and Prof. Dr. Julie Stude and Kordula Schulze from the University of Muenster. This intensive camp is not only held to build helpful discussions about diversity but also a new experience to learn local wisdom and values in Indonesia. The camp not only focuses on character building and understanding the importance of diversity but also on developing and shaping the character of the participant's ability to spread awareness of the importance of diversity and participate in the global community.
